Hungarian company TriGranit Corporation is planning to build a new entertainment and leisure resort south of Bratislava.
The investment contemplated is around €1.5bn over five years and covers a 30 hectare site adjacent to the districts of Petrzalka and Jarovce on the intersection of two highways which lead to Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest and Prague and is near the borders to Austria and Hungary.
Current plans for the first phase of the project will include a shopping centre, water park and leisure centre and Adventure Park, three hotels and a US style casino. Later phases will include conference facilities, golf course, additional casinos and luxury apartments.
Construction of the first phase is expected to begin in 2011 and will take five years to complete. The complex is expected to increase Slovakia’s tourism figures by another five million annually and create 10,000 jobs.
The Metropolis complex includes a casino to be operated by Harrah’s Entertainment Inc and will include 1,200,000 sq.m gross building area.
Trigranit Development Corporation is a huge real estate business development company which designs and constructs retail and entertainment centres, office buildings, hotels, waterfront resorts and residential developments.
It has a number of projects in eight countries which started with Hungary, Poland and Slovakia and now includes Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Russia.
Although Hungarian born the company now has offices throughout Central and Eastern Europe whilst TriGranit has been present in Slovakia for the last 10 years and its first foreign development was realised in this country in 2000 with the development of the Polus Center in Bratislava which includes 38,000 gross rentable area
This became the capital’s first American style commercial and entertainment centre and was followed by the opening of the Millennium Towers I and II office towers in 2001 and 2003. In 2008 another office tower was developed in Bratislava called Lakeside Park.
