OVERVIEW Norsk Tipping is wholly owned by the Norwegian state and was set up in 1946 as the country’s gaming company. The group operates lottery games, scratch cards and sports betting Norsk Tipping began operating VLTs in August 2008 and contracted Ace Interactive for its server based gaming systems and all games are provided by Ace from their own library or contracted via third parties. Play is via a Norsk Tipping Playing Card for over 18s and it is not possible to lose more than NK400 per day and maximum NOK2,200 per month.


There are around 2,000 Multix VLTs currently in the Norwegian market which are located in the 4,000 Norsk Tipping’s existing retailer kiosks. The aim is to have 4,000 terminals out in the market by 2011. Overall in 2009 the Norwegian gaming market saw sales of up to NOK26.6bn. Norsk Tipping has a 47 per cent share of the market with a GGR of NOK12,575m compared to NOK3,625m for Norsk Rikstoto; NOK3,625m for Bingo and NOK500m for Lottery and NOK5,000m for foreign online games.


Since 1948 Norsk Tipping has contributed nearly NOK85bn to social services with NOK3.7bn distributed this year. Gross revenues for Multix VLTs came to NOK1,664m.
