TENNIS Le Petit Tennis™

An exciting new program (developed by Jean Philippe Fleurian who trained all ORC coaches) geared towards 3-6 year olds. This progressive approach incorporates interactive storytelling to provide an animated, fun and engaging

introduction to the sport of tennis while teaching the value of developing physical literacy skills. Throughout this program children will be exposed to an exciting world of animals, imaginary characters and travel as they learn basic tennis fundamentals. Activities focus on a variety of motor movement and coordination skills that will stimulate creativity and build self confidence. Parents will also have the opportunity to continue lessons from home via a take-home equipment kit that includes a racquet, special age appropriate ball, net, bracelet and instruction book.

TEEN DEVELOPMENT (Age 12-17) This developmental program for ages 12-17 will feature

progression learning in full court play while incorporating game situations in a fun, social environment.

PROGRESSIVE PLAY

These Saturday morning sessions will be devoted to player’s age 5-12 and will focus on skills play and fitness. Players must be able to self rally and partner rally in order to register for this program (please see your pro) Players will play on 1/2, 3/4, and full transition court in coach/parent supervised play.

TENNIS TIPS

1. Do you know how oſten you should restring your tennis racquet?

A. The number of times you play per week equals how oſten you should re string your racquet per year. Ex. 4 times per week = 4 times per year.

2. When playing doubles and unsure of where to hit your next shot remember the slogan “through the middle solves the riddle”.

3. If you are struggling with your return of serve shorten your backswing and hit through the ball towards your chosen target.

4. When playing singles use a strong crosscourt to set up the down the line shot. Avoid going down the line until you have an opportunity to hit an aggressive, attacking shot.

5. in singles play, if you are getting beaten by a down the line shot, your crosscourt may not have enough pace on it. To get more pace you need to get yourself behind the ball to be able to transfer your body weight into your shot and accelerate through your contact point.
