TENNIS


Compete: For players who love the rush of com- petition, and want to be the best. These programs involve competing against other players as well as teams from other clubs and offer the opportunity to challenge yourself on a physical and mental level.


PLAY! PROGRAMS


Singles In-House League Play: A friendly yet competitive format supervised by an ORC Tennis Professional


Doubles In-House League Play: A friendly yet competitive doubles format supervised by an ORC Tennis Professional.


Women’s In-House Team Tennis (evening): Doubles teams compete over 4 weeks (two matches per session). Sign up with a partner, or we can find one for you. This program is organized by an ORC Tennis Professional.


Men’s Tuesday Night In House League: Men compete in an organized doubles house league (3.0-4.0)


ORC Club Championships: this highly anticipated annual event runs throughout the month of April. Various categories and levels are held each weekend.


INTERCLUB LEAGUES


Fall/Winter Windoor - women’s daytime competitive league play consisting of A, B and C levels. Tryouts are mid September. www.ladieswindoor.com


Business League - women’s Saturday aſternoon competitive league play for 4.0+ level. Tryouts are mid September. www.ladieswindoor.com


Summer


InterCounty Tennis Association – four doubles leagues; Wednesday morning ladies, evening men, women and mixed; +55 Thursday morning play and weekend leagues for juniors. Signups are early April. www.intercountytennis.com


Lakeshore League – a doubles league consisting of two sets of men/women doubles and one set of mixed. Monday or Wednesday evening. Signups are early April.

3.5 Intermediate: Consistent but needs to develop more depth and precision. Can return with pace or directional control and approach the net.


4.0 High Intermediate: Has developed reliable strokes and serve. Needs to develop more tactics and power.


4.5 Club Advanced: Has mastered precision and power and needs to develop more strategy


5.0+ Provincial Advanced: Has mastered precision, power, tactics and strategy and is playing OTA tournaments.

For players who enjoy the experience of sporting activity followed by good food and friends. Lively, affordable and fun!


ORC Doubles Challenge


The ORC Doubles Challenge will be played over the fall/winter season one Saturday evening per month with food and refreshments aſter. All levels are welcome. A handicap scoring system will be in effect


based on each player’s level. Two pro sets will be played at each social. Points are then tallied based on games won, with a tiebreaker counting for two games.


• 5:30-7:30 pm on designated Saturdays • At the end of the six month season there will be a Grand Prize awarded to the men’s and women’s overall winner


• Sign up early. Spots are limited!


Adult Levels of Play Tennis members can receive a complimentary


assessment from one of our Certified Tennis Professionals or self-assess their playing ability by using the Tennis Canada Play Tennis self-rating guide. Each level is described in brief below:


1.0 Never Played: Enthusiastic, but has never held a racquet.


2.0 Beginner: May have had lessons in the past; can get the ball in play but lacks control.


2.5 High Beginner: Can rally 10 balls consistently typically with a forehand and is working on keeping score and playing games.


3.0 Low Intermediate: Can play singles and doubles and control the direction of the ball. Needs more consistency.
