• If you speak English as another language (if, like many local people, you speak another language in your home) we offer special classes to help you learn English to prepare you for Citizenship and for work in the UK. You’ll be studying alongside other people just like you – so you’ll fit in from day one.
• If you have the basics in your subject, you can move up to level 2 and beyond. And, we’ll make sure that you’re maths, English and IT skills develop along the way.
• If you want to improve your Literacy and Numeracy, you can work towards achieving your National Test in Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy at levels 1 and 2.
• If you want to go on to Higher Education level (also known as HE, degree or university level) but don’t have any A Levels, our Access to Higher Education courses are ideal. They’re the same standard as A Levels, but are specially designed for adults and give you a full preparation for HE study. If you aren’t quite ready for an Access course, you can study one of our Pre-Access courses.

Develop your skills to a higher level Want to improve your existing skills to get a great job or promotion? Maybe you’ve been out of work and want to increase your qualifications to a higher level? Hackney Community College’s level 2 to HE courses are ideal. Here’s how we can help you get the job you want:
• Get qualified: we offer most vocational courses up to level 3, and some to level 7. Our top-class facilities mean that your learning is linked to the world of work – rather than just focusing on the theory.
• The professionals: from accounting (AAT) to childcare (CACHE) and teacher training, you can get your professional qualifications at Hackney Community College. • More than ever, having additional skills on your CV can make all the difference. So open up your career by learning one of the many languages we offer.
• Higher Education at your local College: we are introducing more Foundation Degrees each year in partnership with London Metropolitan University, University of East London and other HE institutions. The classes are smaller than at university, so you will get more time with your tutor, helping you succeed.
• Apprenticeships: get paid while you learn! Usually, you’ll spend four days a week with your employer and one day a week at College.
