Fees
Estimated tuition fees are listed alongside the courses in this guide, where we have been able to do so.Tuition fees may be waived in some instances. Please see below for more information. If you are over 19 on 31 August in the year that you start your course and are a home student* you may need to pay a fee. Fees range from £950 for a full-time course and £2.50 per hour for a part-time course. However, some courses have different fees (please refer to the individual costs by the courses). All tuition fees shown are per year.
All learners over 19 pay a resource fee of £45. Exam fees are set by the awarding bodies and are also payable if you study a course leading to an examination. We can let you know this information when you enrol.
Some courses are made up of several components - some are mandatory and some are optional. Therefore the price you pay will vary.
Most students pay the full fee when they enrol. If you are unable to do this, you may pay 50% of your fee when you enrol and the remainder by 31 January 2011. There may be further charges for materials. See individual courses throughout this guide and ask us when you enrol.
You may pay no tuition fee if: • You are a home student and are studying a Literacy and Numeracy course or a course for students with learning difficulties
• You are receiving means tested benefits, or you are dependent upon someone who is. This includes Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.
• You are an unwaged dependent of someone receiving benefits listed above
• You are, or are dependent upon, an asylum seeker receiving the equivalent of a ‘means tested’ benefit. Important note – full-time study may affect your right to receive benefit. If you’re claiming free tuition, we’ll need evidence of your status.
• You are enrolling on a full-time level 2 programme for the first-time
• You are progressing onto a level 3 programme and are aged between 19-24.
• You are enrolling on your first level 3 course and you have not previously taken a level 2 course.
Please note, fees are not refundable, unless the College is at fault.
* Settled in the U.K. and have lived here for at least 3 years as an ordinary resident before starting your course
Resource fee All learners over 19 pay the resource fee of £45 per year for a full-time course or £11 a term for a part-time course, which is not included in the approximate tuition fee alongside the courses in this guide.
Overseas students (international) An overseas student (someone who is ordinarily resident outside of the European Community), approximately pays £4,500 a year for courses over 15 hours per week (full-time) or £7 per hour for a part-time course.
Additional costs On some courses you will need to buy materials or books, or specialist clothing or equipment. Some awarding bodies also charge a registration fee. This will be explained to you before you start the course.
On some courses, you will do a work placement where you will be regularly caring for, supervising, training, or being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults. As an organisation that is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, you will need to have an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure if you will be going on such a work placement. An enhanced disclosure costs approximately £36 which has to be paid in CASH when you enrol. CRB application forms are issued by course tutors. Please note that having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from studying with us. This will depend on the nature of the course and the circumstances and background of your offences.
