AAT Certificate / Diploma (QCF levels 2 and 3) These courses are for people who have limited or no knowledge of accounting transactions. You will spend the first 10 weeks completing the Certificate, which covers: • Basic accounting • Working effectively in accounting and finance • Basic costing

Access to Education Studies Code: CPRF258.9.d The course consists of study skills, maths, science and IT plus education studies, childhood studies, psychology and literature. You will need a CRB check (see page 12).


Access to Counselling and Psychology


Code: CPRF258.9.c The course consists of learning about yourself, counselling skills and theory, psychology, study skills with the option of maths.


Access to Nursing


Code: CPRF258.9.b The course consists of study skills, maths and IT plus health studies, biology and psychology.


Access to Social Work


Code: CPRF258.9.a The course consists of study skills, maths and IT plus social work, theory, social policy and psychology.

• Computerised accounting You will then progress onto the Diploma, which covers: • Accounts preparation • Cash management • Costs and revenues • Indirect tax • Professional ethics in accounting and finance • Spreadsheet software Your work will be assessed throughout the course by computer-based assignments. Start date: 7 September 2010 End date: 1 July 2011 Duration of course: 36 weeks Mode of attendance: Full-time (day) or part-time (evening) Entry requirements: College interview and assessment – but you should have a detailed knowledge of all areas of bookkeeping. Possible next steps: AAT Diploma (QCF level 4)


AAT Diploma (QCF level 4) This qualification has been designed for people who have completed the AAT Diploma (level 3) or have previous Accounting knowledge at degree level. It is offered in modular format covering two units per term: • Financial statements • Budgeting • Financial performance • Internal control and auditing systems • Credit management control • Plus either personal tax, business tax or external auditing


Your work will be assessed throughout the course by computer-based tests and one written project. Start date: 7 September 2010 End date: 1 July 2011 Duration of course: 36 weeks Mode of attendance: Part-time (two 3-hour evenings per week) Entry requirements: AAT Diploma (level 3)
