Code: SPSF323 This course provides a background and range of skills and knowledge required for employment in the travel and tourism industries. Units of study include: the UK travel and tourism industry, exploring customer service in travel and tourism, UK travel and tourism destinations, European holiday destinations, exploring marketing in travel and tourism, developing employability skills for travel and tourism and planning visits for travel and tourism. Start date: 6 September 2010 End date: 9 July 2011 Duration of the course: 36 weeks Entry requirements: BTEC Introductory Diploma (merit), or 4 GCSEs grades D-G (including English), plus a satisfactory reference. Mode of attendance: Full-time (day) Possible next steps: Diploma in Travel and Tourism level 3 (minimum of merit/distinction grade required) or employment in Travel and Tourism. BTEC Diploma Travel and Tourism (level 3)


Code: SPSF392 This course is designed to give you the skills, knowledge and understanding required for a range of roles in organisations within the travel and tourism sector. These include accommodation, transport, retail travel and visitor attractions. The qualification also enables progression to undergraduate degree qualifications and professional occupations in tourism-related fields. You will also develop personal qualities essential for career development and progression within the sector and learn the appropriate knowledge and skills including locational geography, customer service, business skills and industry practices. Start date: 6 September 2010 End date: 6 July 2012 Duration of the course: 72 weeks Entry requirements: BTEC First Diploma (merit) or 4 GCSEs at grades A-C (one of which should be English) Mode of attendance: Full-time (day) Possible next steps: University, undergraduate courses or into employment in travel and tourism.
