Childcare and Education Diploma (level 3)


Code: CPRF1670 You will study the components of the Childcare and Eduacation Diploma level 2 course (see previous course) at a more advanced level. Start date: 6 September 2010 End date: 6 July 2012 Duration of the course: 72 weeks Entry requirements:You must have 5 GCSEs at grade C or above and / or a relevant level 2 course. You should also be able to write coherently and demonstrate an ability to develop and mature sufficiently, to benefit from learning and employment. Mode of attendance: Full-time (day) Possible next steps: University or Foundation Degree - which leads into employment in areas such as a: practitioner in day care, nursery school, creche or pre-school. Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies, level 4 (Sure Start Early Years Sector Endorsed)


Code: CPF4677 This course is designed for people working with young children in public, private, voluntary and independent childcare and education settings. It gives a higher-level qualification and career development for people working as child minders or in group settings such as a nursery, kindergarten, pre-school, community crèche or children's centre environment. You’ll learn about the importance of play, language and learning, symbolic representation, management in early years and more. The course also covers issues related to working with multi-lingual children. Entry requirements:You must have a level 3 childcare qualification and at least 2 years’ experience of working with children. There is also a written College assessment and interview. Possible next steps: London Metropolitan University for the final year of your degree. Starts: September 2010 Weeks: 60 (30 per year, including assessment periods) Attendance: Full-time (delivered in 1 full day and 1 evening) Approximate tuition fee:TBC
