Code: SPSF138 The BTEC Diplomas in Sport are designed to equip people with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed for progression into employment or further educational opportunities. The Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence) is a specialist qualification that focuses on a specific vocational area. You will study the core concepts common to all the Diplomas in Sport and will also study other areas that are key to the study of sports performance. The Diploma (Performance and Excellence) is an integral part of the education of young elite athletes in the UK, being part of the technical certificate requirement on the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence. The Diploma in Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness) is a specialist qualification that focuses on a specific vocational area. You will study the core concepts common to all the Diplomas in sport and will also study other areas that are key to the study of these specific job roles. Certifiate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) with PTLLS
Code: TTRF6320 CELTA is the initial qualification to become an ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) Teacher either in Further Education, Community settings or private language schools in the UK or overseas. The course is aimed at people who would like to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) but have no or little experience of teaching ESOL. It is also suitable for experienced teachers of other subjects who would like to retrain in this specialised field. Teaching is through lectures, seminars, workshops, discussion, pair and group work, video and computers, practical teaching and classroom observations of experienced ESOL teachers. Entry requirements: You must be at least 20 years old, be educated to at least university entrance standard, (A Level or equivalent) and have a high level of competence in English, both written and spoken. Successful applicants are invited to an interview and need to pass a language awareness test. Start date: 15 September 2010 End date: 22 July 2011 Duration of the course: 30 weeks. Mode of attendance: Part-time (Wednesday 9am-5pm) Possible next steps: CELTA trained teachers can teach in Further Education, Community settings and /or in private language schools in the UK or abroad.
