UNIVERSITY COLLEGE Utrecht
Six hundred Bachelor’s degree students from various backgrounds and countries are now studying at the University College Utrecht.
UCU specializes in the teaching of liberal arts and sciences. The main characteristics of a liberal education are:
• Interdisciplinary, meaning students are not bound to any one subject or profession but are trained to see further than one specialisation and to combine knowledge and insights from different fields of study;
• International orientation, meaning students are trained and encouraged to see the world beyond their doorstep, to appreciate and enjoy cultural differences and become openminded individuals;
• A general academic training, meaning students acquire the fundamental academic skills which enable them to work in a constructive and independent manner, fully preparing them for the world of international business and/or (post)graduate education.

ADMISSION requirements
Students are selected through an assessment that includes not only a review of their academic performance but also of their likely contribution to the campus’ intellectual and cultural vitality. Academic interests and qualities such as leadership, motivation, ambition and concern for others are taken into account.
International applicants need to have a diploma that is equivalent to the Dutch VWO diploma (Selectividad, International Baccalaureate diploma, British A-levels, etc.). Since English is the official language at University College, non-native speakers are required to demonstrate proof of proficiency. This can be done with an IELTS test, TOEFL test, or Cambridge Certificate.
Utrecht University is a truly international enterprise.
Every year, hundreds of international students come to Utrecht to take courses taught in English. Such courses are offered in nearly all disciplines and at all degree levels. University College Utrecht (UCU) is the international Honors College of Utrecht University. It offers students a residential setting in which the foundations are laid for their academic and/or professional careers.
