FAR LEFT Casting his expert eye over the Holstein classes was David Boyd from the Glaslough herd.


LEFT Standing top of the third calver class was Davlea Goldwyn Lulu 2 from Bryn and Max Davies.

at South West Dairy Show and last year was interbreed heifer champion at the Royal Welsh and South West Dairy Shows. Her dam is the VG87 Ridgefield Pledge who herself is a daughter of Windy-Knoll-View Pledge. In the heifer championship it was Kevin Rickard and Sian Webber’s senior heifer Shottle Windbrook Sheen that took the honours. Purchased as a calf at the Genetic Elite Sale for 3000gns she is two months calved and giving 32kg a day. On her only other outing she stood fifth at UK Dairy Day. Classified VG87 she is out of the VG89 Shottle Durham Sheena who is a granddaughter of Ocean-View Lindy Sheen. Taking reserve spot was Elwyn and Cheryl Thomas’ junior heifer Caer Fever Flora 133. Purchased as a fresh heifer at Carmarthen


Show and Sale in August she is currently giving 35kg. Out of a VG88 scored Igniter sired dam, she stood first at Llandyfaelog Show. Earlier in the day Kevin Rickard and Sian Webber’s Starlet Midas White Rose stood top of the in-calf heifer class. This Sellcrest Midas Red daughter is out of the Scientific Destry sired Drouner AJDH Black Rose who is a descendant of the EX95 Lavender Ruby Redrose. This heifer has been unbeaten in the show ring in 2014 and is due to calf in December to Earndhart. The cow in-calf class was won by Simon and Sian Davies with Castellhyfryd Stormy Patricia. Due with her third calf in January to Stanleycup she gave 11,673kg at 4.1%bf and 3.13%p in her second lactation.

RIGHT Champion heifer was the senior class winner Shottle Windbrook Sheen from Kevin Rickard and Sian Webber.
