Holstein Northern Ireland has unveiled its members’ Activities Card for 2014/15. Generously sponsored by John Thompson and Sons Ltd, the activities card highlights important dates in the club’s annual calendar, including shows and sales, the annual dinner and AGM. The activities card, which will be posted to all club members, also contains useful information such as the club’s website address, and the contact details of club office bearers. Holstein NI Activities for 2014/15 include:


2014 Wednesday November 5 – Premier Autumn Bull show and sale, Pedigree Sales Arena, Moira. Friday November 7 – Annual dinner and presentation of awards, Hilton Hotel, Templepatrick – 8pm. Wednesday November 19 – Female show and sale, Pedigree Sales Arena, Moira. Tuesday December 2 – Bull show and sale, Kilrea Mart. Wednesday December 17 – Female show and sale, Pedigree Sales Arena, Moira.

Schedules for the pedigree bull sales at Moira, Kilrea and Ballymena can be downloaded from the club’s website. Prospective purchasers should note that all bulls offered for sale at the three venues will be tested for BVD with a negative PI (Persistent Infection) result and will be fully vaccinated for BVD. BREEDERS ACHIEVEMENTS Deangate Cindy 32 BFE95


John Robotham’s Deangate Cindy 32 has classified BFE95 in her sixth lactation, with EX97 legs and feet and EX96 mammary. Cindy 32 is a daughter of Deangate Prince 2and out of the BFE90 Deangate Cindy 27 who is still in the herd, milking in her seventh lactation. Her grand dam, Deangate Cindy 13 BFE90 produced 94 tonnes of milk in 11 lactations.


Cindy 32 is part of the herd run by John at Rangemore, Staffordshire, and is closely related to two of the top bulls in the Friesian breed. She is a maternal half sister of Deangate Consul (PLI £247) and her dam is a maternal half sister of Deangate Centurion (PLI £271).


Worminster Howley Evergreen EX91-2E LP100


The EX91 scored Worminster Howley Evergreen owned by Philip and Anne- Marie Cotterrell of Warrenbury Holsteins has achieved 100t lifetime yield and is on track to complete 110t this lactation.


She has had eight heifer calves in her lifetime having twins by Windy Knoll 4 Aces as a heifer, then heifers by Willsbro Reflex, Sandy Valley Bolton, Worminster Progress Arnald, Electricity and the latest by Shottle and Gen-I Bek Aikman.


Collycroft Lupin 208 BFE90-3E


The top cow in the Genus Friesian Long Life Cow Competition was Collycroft Lupin 208 BFE90, who is 18 years old. She is currently milking in her 15th lactation and has given more than 110 tonnes in 14 lactations. Sired by Dalebank Income she is out of the BFE92 classified Collycroft Lupin 192.
