NORTH EASTERN Herd competition results 2014 The Club’s summer herd competition once again pulled in a large number of entries and the club would like to thank Stephen Dennison (Denmire) for judging the competition this year. Winner of the overall herd section was J L Miles and Sons (Littlebridge) and they then went forward to compete in the Northern section of the Premier herds competition later this summer. Whole Herd

The club would like to congratulate the HYB team that was sent to compete at this year’s Weekend Rally which was kindly hosted by the Devon Club. All of the young members were a credit to the club and placed 8th


in the clipping, Lucy Atkinson and Jess Hurren who were 6th in the showmanship.


The combined North East and Yorkshire All Breeds Calf Show was once again held at Thirsk Auction Mart and had a strong number of entries. The qualifying handlers and calves went forward to represent the club at the All Breeds All Britain Calf Show at the new venue in Malvern. Showmanship

A quick turn around after the Thirsk calf show and Lizzie Miles (Littlebridge) flew across to Belgium to compete at the European Young Breeders School to represent Holstein UK. Competing against 22 other teams from 13 countries Lizzie came 4th


competition and went on to be placed an impressive 15th


in the showmanship overall out of 140


other competitors. The competition encompassed clipping, showmanship, judging and reason giving as well as written tests and various other assessments throughout the week. Engagements


On a final note the club would like to congratulate two club members on their engagements. James Pratt and Philippa Almack, as well as Lizzie Miles and Edward James.
