ONBOARD ENTERTAINMENT Google glass gets go-ahead


 Google Glass has been trialled by the passenger services team at Copenhagen Airport, working alongside the tech research group SITA Lab. “The feedback from our passengers and service team has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Marie-Louise Lotz, director customer care, Copenhagen Airport. “We found Google Glass very easy to use and more user-friendly than other devices such as tablets. We can reduce the amount of paper our duty managers need to carry to give great customer service, such as duty rosters, desk allocation sheets, peak prognosis, passenger numbers and cruise arrivals. As the devices are hands-free our managers can engage better with our passengers.” Services such as Google Translate and access to gate, baggage and flight information helped the team to improve dialogue with passengers. Sharing information with colleagues, by using the camera for documentation purposes and publishing photos on a closed work forum, improved the interaction between managers.


All Nippon Airways


 Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE) has renewed its IFE contract with All Nippon Airways (ANA). GEE will continue to deliver content and services in multiple languages to ANA, including movies, TV programming, audio content and technical services.

The killer benefit is that this technology is hands-free, enabling a new way of working. However, the trial brought to light some snags in the technology. "The devices need improved scanning capability, battery life and reduced

Cheap wifi on the way
