Fuller’s moves in at Heathrow London Heathrow’s impressive new Terminal 2 opened this summer and among the many ‘firsts’ for the high-tech facility is something a little more down to earth, but no less exciting for beer aficionados. The development in question is the opening of the very first airside pub from Fuller’s, a highly regarded London brewery based just eight miles ‘down the road’ from the airport. In a subtle but effective twist on one of the


brewer’s best-known beers, the pub is called London’s Pride and serves a new beer, Wingman, that has been brewed exclusively for the pub. London's Pride was two years in the making and


features an open kitchen, charging points, a selection of Fuller’s merchandise and a timeline of the brewery’s history which dates back to 1845. “London’s Pride is in a league of its own and we


are incredibly proud to have this as the latest addition to the Fuller’s estate,” says Jonathon Swaine, managing director of Fuller’s Inns. “It is set to be one of our flagship pubs and it is very exciting to see Fuller’s on an international platform.”


Airberlin teams up with Bitburger Airberlin teamed up with German brewery Bitburger earlier this summer to launch a Bitburger-branded Airbus A320. The aircraft, dubbed Fan Force One, is operating


across the carrier’s European network until October and was part of a World Cup promotional campaign that also saw Bitburger transport a host of lucky competition winners out to Brazil to follow Germany’s progress in the World Cup – and we all know how that turned out! Bitburger is served on all airberlin flights. It is free of charge on domestic German flights and long- haul services and otherwise costs three euros a can.


Craft beer making waves Crystal Cruises, which greatly expanded its selection of beers in 2013, is going one better by introducing craft-beer-themed culinary cruises this autumn. Crystal Serenity sails from New York on November 5, heading to Miami via the East Coast and Caribbean, and will include presentations, cooking and cocktail classes, tasting sessions and dinners from expert brewers, writers and chefs, plus shore excursions to a number of micro-breweries in and around New York and Charleston. “We’ve recently seen the growing interest in


microbrews reflected in our own guests’ palates, leading us to add international speciality beers to our Connoisseur beverage menu in 2013,” says Philip Ordever, vice president, international sales and marketing. “A microbrew theme in 2014 is a natural extension of that interest.” The cruise line introduced a dozen craft beers


from around the world last year, including the rare Samuel Adams Utopias (from Boston) and the 14% Samichlaus from Austria.


Cheers to Ron! After 37 years of service with MillerCoors, Ron Schroeder retired in July. The former director of travel retail and leisure held positions in both distributor sales and managed chain over a period of nearly four decades, receiving several accolades along the way. “All of us within the MillerCoors managed chain organization thank Ron for his contributions, service and friendship over the years and wish him the very best in his retirement,” says a statement from the company.
