Spiriant opens in Middle East
June 23 '14
LSG Sky Chefs’ inflight equipment subsidiary, Spiriant, has opened its first branch in the Middle East,
meeting rising demand for enhanced inflight services in the region. The location of the new branch in the Dubai Airport Free Zone (DAFZ) was chosen to connect the Middle East with Africa. Said Alexander Spahn, Spiriant md:
“We chose DAFZ as our first address in the Middle East based on its proximity to our airline customers and the excellent infrastructure and business dynamics Dubai offers. This strategic move will allow us to strengthen our relationship with customers and suppliers throughout
the region and participate in its overall economic growth. It will also place us in a prime position as Middle Eastern and African carriers implement their expansion plans.”

Passengers at Munich Airport witnessed a spectacular scene when a pianist, borne on a ‘flying
carpet’, descended to the tarmac with his Orange Piano. The visit was part of the 'Orange Piano Tour' by musician and singer Stefan Aaron, whose trademark is guest appearances at unusual locations. The aluminium carpet, suspended 40 metres below a cargo helicopter, was gently lowered to a spot on the western apron of Munich Airport for a concert with about 100 invited guests.
