ONBOARD CATERING Chef success


Two Alpha LSG-sponsored student chefs have scooped Gold in an international cooking contest in Hong Kong. Learning their craft at Westminster


Kingsway, William Breese and Ben Townsend attended the International Colleges Culinary Competition 2014 to take on other young chefs, aged under 23, from top institutes in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. In a test of imagination, taste and

ON THE GROUND LSG goes for China


LSG Sky Chefs has opened a new catering facility at Nanjing Lukou International Airport in China. The airport operator is also the joint


venture partner of LSG Sky Chefs at this location. The 5,000 sq metre advanced unit can produce up to 20,000 meals per day and is designed for growth to 2030. Lukou International is one of the top 15


airports in China, with 1,350 departures per week to 56 domestic cities and 22 international airports. The airport has also just opened a new terminal and an additional runway that can accommodate the A380. It will have an estimated capacity of 30 million passengers by 2020. lsgskychefs.com

Wine in a can pioneer, Barokes Wines, has won 12 medals at the New York International Wine Competition, including Best Wine in a Can. Barokes won three Gold, six Silver and


two Bronze medals in the competition with its new slim bottle can, Lovers Wine, products all receiving either Silver or Bronze medals. The New York competition is judged


by store buyers, sommeliers, beverage directors, distributors and importers. Barokes ceo, Greg Stokes, said: “The fact
