Broadcast control for cine lenses A new range of ENG adapters from cmotion is claimed to offer broadcast- style control for cine-style lenses. They interface between common Canon and Fujinon broadcast-style controllers and cmotion’s existing cvolution LCS or new cforce motors, allowing familiar broadcast controllers to control the individual axis on cine style lenses driven by external motors. They are also suitable for 3D broadcast use. When used with the cvolution camin and popular broadcast cameras, the iris motor can be controlled by the camera’s internal sensor. 11.G42

African coverage Digital content management and global distribution services RRsat Global Communications Network has signed a long-term agreement with FOX International Channels (FIC), 21st Century Fox’s multimedia business, to support broadcast of its French channels throughout Africa. REDLab Digital, a Toronto- based digital lab and post facility; and Now Productions in Los Angeles are the first adopters of Cache-A’s Simul- Copy. Simul-Copy is a new LTO- tape duplication and


verification capability designed to enable users to simultaneously make multiple tar or LTFS LTO-tapes, rather than sequential copies, at close to the same speed as a single copy. It works with Cache-A’s LTO-4, LTO-5 and latest LTO-6 generation appliances. “One of the biggest


challenges we face is dealing with, and being responsible for,


vast amounts of data,” said Andy Hunter, owner and Flame artist at REDLab Digital, whose company has provided post and archiving services to Sony Pictures’ 3D Resident Evil: Retribution and Pompeii. “On major productions this can easily amount to a couple of Terabytes per day for the duration of the shoot. “Traditionally we have run 24/7 making dual LTFS LTO

broader array of inputs, the Observer line includes support for ASI, QAM, 8-VSB, DVB- T/T2, and DVB-T MPEG TS interfaces. Available on all Observer TS systems — including Enterprise, Pro, and Scout systems — a new interface is designed to


simplify deployment and configuration for receiving off- air channels.


Observer Mobile gives users access to content through an iPad or iPhone. Since the introduction of Observer Mobile, Volicon has enhanced the interface to support multichannel viewing and multiple audio tracks. Users now also have the ability to select the best bitrate for their viewing device and network connection. Volicon is additionally


featuring expandable Observer TS systems that enable extension of a facility’s monitoring systems. Volicon’s
