Intelligent products for connected production

Peter Heath, sales & marketing director Roland Systems Group highlights a significant change in product use

The focus of Roland Systems Group at the IBC marketplace is providing integrated audio and video solutions that have multiple capabilities such as mixing, recording and HD web streaming. The world of broadcast and

content delivery is rapidly changing with the impact of wired and wireless internet delivery now very apparent in the connected hardware and software now available. Post production workflows

have advanced significantly as have content capture methods, and as a manufacturer we have to constantly keep ahead of the ‘connected world’ to ensure that we deliver on the function

and features required. There has also been

significant change in the way that our products are used, as broadcasters and production companies adapt to delivering content through new media, perhaps streaming live to the web, mixing and recording in realtime. For us this means that our

‘all-in-one’ system products such as the VR-50HD have to become more intelligent, with HD multi format capability, integrating audio and video for mixing and recording and with USB3.0 output for web streaming up to 1080p. Not only do our customers want all the functions in the

one unit, but it needs to be lightweight and portable – easy to set up and easy to plug into the laptop to get streaming. This tells us that our part of this market is not only changing but growing. As traditional and

established broadcasters adapt to the connected world, the opportunities for smaller companies and lone operators are increased and the spectrum of broadcast – and the products we supply – is stretched further. IBC gives us the opportunity

to embrace the diversity of our customers and to understand where and how Roland products are being used. 7.J38
