theibcdaily Monday 16.09.13 61 Miranda shows its fibre for ENG Miranda

By Michael Burns Miranda’s stand in Hall 8 is showcasing new products from its Telecast Fiber Solutions family. The CopperHead 3404K camera-mountable transceiver is specifically designed to exploit the connectivity advantages of lightweight, easy to install fibre.

The transceiver needs only two strands of fibre optic cable to carry all bi-directional signals, including four 3Gbps HD-SDI paths, for 4K productions from a camera to a truck or control room. Miranda claims the unit could thus enable ENG cameras to be dual-purposed without limitation for use in studios, ENG and digital cinematography.

Live in the Cloud with streaming iStreamPlanet

By Anne Morris iStreamPlanet is

demonstrating its cloud- based live streaming product Aventus in Amsterdam this week. Built from the ground up for the cloud, Aventus utilises virtual machines for every step in the live video workflow, including scheduling, quality control, media processing, content protection, and publishing to any number of designated publish locations. Telemetry provides realtime insights across the workflow, alerting content owners to issues, and reducing viewing interruptions. And, because it is a cloud-based product, failover and redundancy are built-in, not bolted on. Content owners may choose to use Aventus as a cloud service, or deploy it on their own premises in their own private cloud. Aventus supports the most popular devices and formats including HLS, HDS, H.264, RTMP, and includes support for ad insertion, encryption and other industry requirements for premium content delivered over IP. 14.283

Also on display is the new

Telecast M3 cable bundle, aimed at simplifying the connection between router and multiviewer. The M3 combines 16 coax connections into a single cable structure, requiring a single connection step. The

company suggests the innovation would help integrators and installers by greatly reducing the number of required connections while also reducing the chances of improper or mismatched connections.

Another IBC debutant is the new SME-1901 module for streaming media. The company is pitching the module as an ideal way to replace expensive and cumbersome in-house cable TV monitoring systems, thanks to its ability to handle a

wide range of IP monitoring applications with a combination of high density and high quality H.264 video and AAC audio encoding. Cabling and connectivity solutions from parent brand Belden are also featuring. 8.D41
