Eclipse intercom system updated
Clear-Com By Will Strauss
Enhancements to Clear-Com’s Eclipse HX digital matrix intercom system, including the European debut of a compact 3RU matrix frame, are on show at IBC this year.
New capabilities include
Ethernet/IP intelligent trunking with IVC-32-HX card
redundancy, as well as dual label and Arabic language support for its V-Series panels. The new additions are likely to appeal to mobile production and multi-location production facilities. Clear-Com senior product manager Peter Stallard said: “As increasingly more broadcasters are decentralising their productions across multiple locations, the need for reliable and high-performance
Ethernet/IP connectivity, as well as the extended language support, makes the Eclipse HX family the ideal matrix intercom solution for live productions on a local or global scale.” The Eclipse HX-Delta system frame provides two CPU cards for redundant system control plus the option of up to four varied I/O frame cards and up to three interface modules in a 3RU frame. 10.D29
With a full line of products that the company says support all current industry standards for multi-screen video sharing such as DVB2IP, DLNA, and Miracast, Ali is at IBC to showcase capabilities such as its software tool, which provides what the company calls ‘intelligent manoeuvrability’ with interaction that allows users to navigate smart functions including multiple STB/phone pairing, dynamically configurable keypad, EPG, and remote PVR using their smart phones. The company points out that
the readiness and convenience of multiscreen applications does not come without implications, as services are often delivered to inherently unsecure devices, introducing security challenges for protection against piracy and attack. Ali notes that, to protect their revenue stream, content owners mandate strict security requirements that operators and STB suppliers must follow. Ali, in cooperation with security
system vendors, designs secure solutions to protect the revenue models for both content providers and operators. Ali is also discussing with visitors its product roadmap – including ISDB-T, satellite, cable, and T2 platforms with advanced security – on the company’s stand.
Abilis Systems, an Ali Group company, is presenting headless home gateways to address what it says is the ever- increasing demand for viewing of high quality content on multiple screens.
A solution for four terrestrial channels and eight satellite channels is being demonstrated. These gateways are based on the Abilis TB101 high throughput processor, the first device in the Broadcast to Broadband Bridge (B3) product family. It supports Linux and its respective DVB API, along with SAT>IP and DLNA communication protocols. Additionally, TB101 provides conditional access (CA) termination to digital rights management (DRM) for full secure TV distribution in the home. 4.C71
