London’s PLUG Media launched Covered in 2012 with a range of specialist titles from different publishers. Consumers go to the Covered website where they browse through dozens of magazines titles and choose six.
Covered then assembles six 16-page samples from each of the reader’s selections and publishes them in a single, full-colour, 104-page glossy magazine. This is then printed on heavy-weight, coated paper, perfect bound and mailed to the consumer who receives their uniquely tailored, personalised, physical magazine for the cover price of less than US$5. Every copy contains vouchers from each of the six publishers, which are either a money- off retail voucher or a subscription offer.
