SUMMER CAMP GUIDE 2012 SKATE CAMPS
Spend your summer skateboarding at the world-renowned YMCA skate park. Our skate park features a legendary street course, 2 bowls, mini-ramps and a huge vert ramp. Skate Camp is dedicated to providing campers with a fun and safe skating experience. Campers will participate in a skate jam before lunch on Fridays for parents to watch. There are 3 options for campers to choose from based on their skateboarding ability.
All campers must bring a skateboard, helmet, elbow pads and kneepads. Wrist guards are encouraged.
BEGINNER SKATE
6 years – 5th grade | $203/$243 Sessions 2 - 4*- 11 | YMCA
Group skate instruction is a part of this camp for all campers. Learn everything from skate park etiquette and how your skateboard works to other technical skills. Each camper will be part of a group skate lesson Monday – Thursday. Groups will be determined based on skill. The afternoons will be dedicated to free skate at the amazing YMCA skate park.
INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED SKATE
2nd - 7th Grade | $203/$243 Sessions 2 - 4*-11 | YMCA
Skaters will be challenged to attempt new skills and tricks by counselors, but will not receive any group instruction time. This option is for those skaters that feel comfortable skateboarding at our park and who would like the freedom of using the entire park all day.
TRAVEL SKATE – NEW!
2nd - 7th Grade | $220/$265 | Sessions 4*, 8 | YMCA
Ready for a change of scenery? Skaters will have the opportunity use the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA’s skate park supplemented by 2 days at the Mission Valley YMCA skate park. If you want to skate all week but are ready for a new challenge, this is the camp for you!
SLIMY BUGS & GROSS SLUGS
K - 2nd Grade | $223/$268 Sessions 10 | YMCA
You want to eat a bug? Come join the crazy creepy crawler fun! Spend all week identifying, collecting, examining and learning about all creepy crawlers. Get ready to be totally grossed out, get dirty and have a ton of slimy fun in this camp. Campers have the opportunity bring home their very own bug at the end of the week.
SOCCER
1st - 5th Grade | $143/$168 Sessions 4*, 6, 11 | YMCA
Score a goal by signing up for this camp! Soccer camp is a great place for campers to learn the sport for the fi rst time or to sharpen their skills. In this recreational camp, our YMCA camp staff will emphasize skill building through drills, group games, scrimmages and team work. The camp focuses on teaching skills through fun, active games and activities. Also swimming at the YMCA swimming pool, crafts, group games, sports and other fun activities. Shin guards are required.
