Elks National Veterans Service Commission


Green Valley, AZ, Lodge members, accompanied by scouts from Cub Scout Pack No. 328, a teacher, and a student from Continental Elementary School, visited the Tucson VA medical facility. While at the facility, they visited 30 veterans being treated there, gave them each a handmade Veterans Day card that had been made by a first-grade student, and gave 15 more cards to the facility to give to other veterans. Alabama Elks Association members attended a Veterans Day Memorial Service held by the city of Birming- ham to pay tribute to the sacrifices of America’s veterans.


Calera, AL, Lodge held a Veterans Dinner for about 20 local veterans and their guests, treated them to dinner, and gave each of them a US flag pin. Lodge members also placed a US flag on each of 50 veterans’ graves on Veterans Day.


Fairbanks, AK, Lodge donated more than $2,500 that was raised from raffling off a tractor to the lodge Veterans Service Committee.


Bullhead City, AZ, Lodge donated $300 to Veterans United to pay for

wreaths in honor of 15 Arizona veterans who died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The wreaths will be placed at the Arizona Veterans Memorial in Bullhead City.


Casa Grande Valley, AZ, Lodge held its second annual Bike Run fund- raiser, in which 64 riders and passen- gers took part, and through registra-


tion fees and an auction raised more than $1,000 to buy Christmas gifts for veterans being treated at the Tucson VA medical facility.


Casas Adobes, AZ, Lodge members attended the Tucson VA medical facility’s Christmas Party and gave gift packages containing lap robes, toiletries, and clothing to 40 veterans being treated there.


Kingman, AZ, Lodge held a Veterans Day Breakfast and treated 120 local veterans and their spouses to a meal.


Raceway, AZ, Lodge members treated six veterans from the MANA (marines, army, navy, air force) House, a transitional home for homeless veterans, to dinner at the lodge.
