New Orleans, LA, Lodge members honored the memory of US Marine Corps Sgt. Joseph A. Bovia and presented the Elks Medal of Valor to his family in a ceremony at the lodge. Sergeant Bovia, who was assigned to the 3rd Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, died in Afghanistan on August 31, 2010.
