Alameda, CA, Lodge raised more than $2,300 in donations during its annual Veterans Day Dinner. The funds will be used to send care packages to US troops serving overseas.
Bakersfield, CA, Lodge held a Christmas Party for 400 needy children and treated partygoers to lunch and a visit with Santa, who gave each child a gift.
Bellflower/Long Beach, CA, Lodge members gave more than 100 dictio- naries to third-grade students at Frank E. Woodruff Elementary School.
Casa Grande Valley, AZ, Lodge donated 120 coats to the Casa Grande Elementary School District to be distributed to needy children. In other news, the lodge held its annual two-day Suzy Taylor Rummage Sale and raised more than $4,200 to fund the lodge’s food box and children’s shopping spree charities. The lodge also held a Wild West fund-raiser and through mock holdups and mock prison sentences raised more than $900 for the Elks National Foundation.
Blythe, CA, Lodge members partici- pated in a Steps for the Cure fund- raiser and raised more than $1,900 for the Blythe Cancer Resource Center.
Calpine, CA, Lodge members distrib- uted 200 dictionaries to third-grade students in the towns of Downieville, Loyalton, and Portola.
Canoga Park, CA, Lodge members gave dictionaries to 3,000 third-grade students in 30 schools.
Gardena, CA, Lodge donated $4,000 to help support the Gardena Police Department’s K-9 unit.
Lake Elsinore/Wildomar, CA, Lodge held a Christmas Tree Lane Raffle fund-raiser, which featured eight fully decorated Christmas trees, complete with presents, and raised $14,500 for lodge scholarships and local charities. In other news, the lodge, with the
Green Valley, AZ, Lodge members, accompanied by Santa Claus, visited the Del Coronado Retirement Apartments and gave a goody bag and a Christmas card to each of more than 90 residents. The total value of the goodies was $1,800. In other news, lodge members visited the Continental School, gave miniature US flags and certificates to 65 first-grade students in recognition of their saying the Pledge of Allegiance, and donated a US flag to the school in a ceremony that nearly 600 students attended. In more news, the lodge donated 100 boxes of food and more than $280 to the Green Valley- Sahuarita Community Food Bank to be distributed to needy families. The lodge and ladies auxiliary also donated a number of toys, items of clothing, and gifts to Valley Assistance Services to be given to needy families.
