PRYDE – Drug & Gang Prevention Program Prevention, Recreation, Youth, Diversity, Education
With support from Jack in the Box Foundation, our innovative PRYDE program seeks to build confidence and self-esteem amongst elementary and middle school youth through a variety of student-led clubs.
The PRYDE Program is designed to assist children to make positive life decisions and resist drugs, alcohol, and gang involvement. The curriculum focuses primarily on developing positive self-esteem, character development, cultural awareness, and team sportsmanship during after school hours. Program activities include homework assistance and academic enrichment, sports, games, arts and crafts, field trips, and special events.
The Mission Valley YMCA provides a PRYDE after school program for students at the following schools:
Chesterton Elementary (3rd through 5th graders) Kit Carson Elementary (3rd through 5th graders) Linda Vista Elementary (3rd through 5th graders) Montgomery Middle School (6th through 8th graders)
