Golf is a low-endurance, precision-skill sport. It requires fi ne-motor control and coordination. Swinging a club requires power, and walking the course requires general fi tness, especially if the golfer is carrying clubs. Golf courses vary in length, but championship courses are approximately 6,000 to 7,000 yards, and an 18-hole course takes several hours to play. Women play shorter distances because of the location of the tees. Professional tournaments include four rounds (72 holes over 4 days) with additional holes played on the last day in case of ties.
