ENDURANCE AND ULTRA-ENDURANCE SPORTS (DISTANCE RUNNING, CYCLING, AND SWIMMING)
Endurance and ultraendurance sports include marathons, triathlons, and distance cycling and swim- ming events. All require year-round training and nutrition support. Training and nutrition must be well- matched and will vary depending on the training period—preparation, prerace, race, or active recovery. Reducing body fat or weight should be attempted during active recovery or early in the preparation peri- od so that high-volume training or competition is not compromised.
