Work through the Vocabulary Bank and Skills Bank as a revision of previous study.
Ask students to consider the issues which could arise when drawing up questionnaires to collect information.
They should choose an appropriate topic and practise writing questions in the simplest language possible while still retaining the sense of the question.
Some topics could include:
• asking users what features they want in a software application
• asking computer developers which programming languages they use
• asking project managers what mix of waterfall, agile and hybrid methodologies they use in their project management techniques
Depending on the group, you may also want to ask students to consider different methods for data collection they have encountered in the book. For example, in Unit 8, various methods such as using wireframes and interviews are discussed. In Unit 5, they are likely to have used some secondary sources to identify the power of different processors. Students may want to discuss their experiences of using these types of research.
