1. Students should research different aspects of how the types of game are played. This could include what type of device is being used, whether the game is played with others in the same space or with others online. Also whether the player is part of a team or if it is played by a player on their own.
2. Some of the information for this can be found in the listening in this unit. Students can also draw on their own knowledge of the games in this genre.
3. Students could use their subject course books, the library and the internet to find out the necessary information.
Closure
Set students to work in pairs. Ask them to discuss whether they know anybody who spends too much time playing games or if they spend too much time playing games themselves. Encourage them to discuss the games that they or their friends think may be more addictive.
Feed back visually as a class. Create a list of the games that they think are addictive. Depending on the class, these could be organized into a spidergram by type, or the class can rank them in order from most addictive to least addictive. Students can be encouraged to think about why some games are more addictive than others.
