PLANNING

l Computer network for transferring diagnostic and surgery images to teaching rooms: auditorium, classrooms and case discussion areas.

l Technical areas, such as shafts and technical floors, solutions that improve performance and favour the maintenance of buildings.

Conclusions Over the past fifty years, there has been a large increase in the number of hospital design guidelines in many countries, more than any other type of building. Undoubtedly, hospital buildings are among the most complex that exist, so it is to be expected that they are also the most sensitive to parameters linked to quality, safety or functional aspects. As technology changes rapidly, all parameters must be subject to a continuous process of revision, so that the planner and designer can be confident of their validity. In presenting the results of this study,

despite their limitations in scope, we seek to contribute to a better understanding of the percentages related to hospital buildings, especially teaching hospitals, which, due to their special characteristics, are even more dependant on accurate parameters and standards based on national experiences.
