Was the goal to capture the atmosphere of a real motor racing event? Does realism have to be the ambition for virtual sports to be successful?

While it can be easy to go down the ‘arcade- style’ route, we are committed to creating virtual products that are as realistic as possible. We’ve got fast-paced races, that run on a quick schedule, giving real-time entertainment to players in a realistic setting, right down to the audio.

Realism is incredibly important in the virtual sport space, giving an alternative to live sporting action without being gimmicky, and acting as a valuable cross-sell tool for operators looking to bridge the gap between sports betting and RNG games.

How has Force 1 performed since going live with operators? Has it rivalled Horse Racing, Fantastic League or Greyhound Racing in the popularity stakes?

Force 1 has a steadily increasing set of loyal followers, which is hugely exciting for us. It has not overtaken the core sports, as mentioned above, but instead it appeals to a different audience. Tis is a positive, as it widens our player base and allows us to reach a broader demographic.

Next up in the expansion of Pragmatic's virtual sports suite is a darts themed title. What details can you share at this stage?

Darts has a huge following, and its increasing exposure on television made it an obvious game to feature in our portfolio. Te challenge is

taking something like darts, which is a thrilling spectator sport, and making it interesting to watch, while offering a plethora of markets, such as things like nine-dart finishes, the possibilities of a 180 score, and more.

We have kept to the same two-minute schedule which has meant we need to pack in the action and keep the players informed as to what is going on during the match, bringing close-up views of players, with immense graphical capabilities, as well as believable motion.

In addition, we endeavour to bring all the atmosphere of the darts arena to the virtual world, providing realistic commentary and background music.

What are your expectations for the game? Is the title an example of diversifying Pragmatic Play's virtual sports suite or do you hope the title will challenge the traditionally popular virtual sports?

Tis is another example of us taking a sport that is not mainstream yet, especially in the gambling world, and offering it to a global audience. With its simple rules and bet markets, it is easy to follow, and the outcomes are straight-forward to understand.

We don’t see Darts as competing with our existing games as it attracts a new type of player to our games as well as providing more variety to our existing players. While an established product, it’s also a growing game globally, attracting large TV audiences in the UK, Netherlands, and Germany, among others.

Its demographic reach is changing as well, with a third of attendees at the PDC World Championship now women, and it’s something that we think will translate across to virtual sports as well, as we continue to add exciting products.
