INSIGHT VIRTUAL SPORTS - INSPIRED
How would you assess Inspired's success in North America thus far?
Our Lottery deployment has been live and successful in Pennsylvania for several years. We also recently launched in Ontario and are really pleased with our initial performance.
We are hoping to achieve additional growth in New Jersey through understanding player behaviours and how customers position Virtual Sports alongside sports betting. Michigan, Connecticut and Quebec are in the process of adding Virtual Sports to their offering alongside our existing interactive casino business.
How significant are the regulatory differences between states for virtual sports?
e have three different scenarios in the U.S. within three different states. Te same game is being classified as a sport in Nevada, a casino game in New Jersey and a draw game in Pennsylvania. Tat shows the product’s potential, as it’s able to appeal to three different player types: e-sports bettors, casino players and lottery players in the different states.
To appeal to different player types, even within the same state, the game could be certified as a draw, a casino game, or a sports event, because it may be deployed on a website, with a lottery retailer, or on screens in a sports bar. It's a unique product that allows us to regulate and certify the product under different regulatory regimes.
Does Inspired collaborate with state regulators to raise their awareness about virtual sports and how they work?
Inspired has had great success collaborating with regulators. In Italy, we helped to draft the regulations alongside the regulator who had limited Virtual Sports knowledge and experience. Virtuals resemble a sporting event, but the results are determined using a random generator.
Terefore, it might be confusing for a regulator to try and identify where our product should fit within their regulation, or if they need to draft new regulations. Our team aims to have discussions with regulators from the offset to help manage this and advise them on where the product should be positioned based on our extensive experience.
Inspired has adapted a number of products for state lotteries in the U.S. What synergies do lotteries and virtual sports share?
Virtual Sports are scheduled community events that take place every three to five minutes, instead of being on demand where each person plays their own individual game. Te community aspect is similar to lottery, as many lotteries in the U.S. offer big draws such as the Mega Millions and PowerBall, alongside instant games.
Most lotteries also have the concept of a

relatively high-frequency draw event, one that runs every three or four minutes; this is Virtual Sports for the lottery players. Te player journey is also very similar to a high frequency Keno game that’s running every three to five minutes and is seen by all players at the same time.
Players use play slips, terminals or quick pick mechanisms. As mentioned previously, we deployed games with a multiplier feature because players are familiar with that aspect of the games. It adds a level of comfort to their journey, and it may appeal to them to try and win a larger prize.
What virtual sports do North American players tend to play? For instance, are American sports more popular than football, greyhound and horse racing?
Te US sports are popular, especially American football and basketball, and we hope our baseball game raises the bar even higher. Our other games, including soccer and horse racing, are also popular, and we hope to have the same success with women’s soccer.
