“Mäurer does a disservice to the cause and massively strengthens the black market. Providers operating illegally in Bremen will rejoice today” - DSWV.
Te German Sports Betting Association (DSWV) considers the announcement by Bremen's Senator for the Interior, Ulrich Mäurer, that he intends to close all betting shops in Bremen, to be a politically-motivated action.
Bremen, Germany’s smallest city-state, has sent rejection notices to 32 LBOs that had applied for betting licences under the state’s new gambling law, effectively making the placing of bets on their premises illegal with immediate effect.
DSWV President, Mathias Dahms, rejects the Senate’s claim as being false, stating: “Te members of the German Sports Betting Association have nationwide permits as organisers of sports betting. Te reliability of the providers was put through their paces and, of course, the legal origin of their equipment was also proven.”
Extensive, meaningful documents were also
presented to the Bremen interior authorities with regard to the operators of the betting shops and their financial resources. Money laundering experts have confirmed the evidence. As is usual, the authorities did not ask any questions about the documents submitted. Instead, the applications were rejected and closure was threatened.
Mr. Dahms added: “Te fact that, after months without any response from the authorities, all 32 applications were rejected on the same day suggests that this is an arbitrary, legally questionable and completely disproportionate act that only serves to achieve political goals. Tis has nothing to do with proper administrative procedures.
“Te impression is much more likely that such an action is intended to distract attention from urgent domestic political problems in the state of Bremen.”
the German gaming giant will ‘entertain’ with a strong presentation of its top jackpots, cabinets and new games; backed up by the presence of cash handling experts GeWeTe and next generation payment options from MERKUR eSOLUTIONS.
