New teams rise to the top, and the best pro players making tens of thousands of dollars per month, with the very best players competing to win millions of dollars and younger generations consistently challenging the more experienced ones.

Why hasn’t Overwatch succeeded as well as other titles as a betting product?

Tere are a few reasons for that, with the first being simple - the game just isn’t as popular as the others. In terms of global player counts (7.3 million monthly players), it simply cannot compete with the likes of CS: GO’s 24 million monthly players, or League of Legends’ 125 million.

Even though DOTA 2 has a similar number of monthly players (7.6 million) to Overwatch, it is much more popular as a competitive sport. Which brings us to reason number two. Overwatch has only one successive league that is limited to the USA-based players.

And while it might be big there, the rest of the world just hasn’t caught on. Yes, other regions do have players and teams, but the skill gap is so big that they’re not even considered as pro teams by many viewers.

How does Valorant catch up to the likes of DOTA 2, League of Legends and Counter- Strike?

Valorant is a very young title, having only launched a couple of years, so the main thing it needs is time to establish itself. It has taken many years, even decades, for other disciplines to establish themselves as giants of the esports scene, so only time will tell.

Of course, more investment could help Valorant to reach more players. Te prize pool for Valorant Champions – the biggest event of 2021 – was estimated at $1m, while Stockholm Major’s prize pool for CS: GO was worth $2m. League of Legends Worlds has a prize pool worth $2.18m, and Te International had a whooping $40m prize pool for DOTA 2 players to compete for.

Valorant needs fresh legs to carry it forwards, as well as a bunch of skillful, hungry, modern players that are ready to help rise it’s stock all the way to the top.

Where are the most lucrative esports markets and which hold the most potential?

For now, Asia is the most lucrative region due to its population size and the love they have for esports. For example, the biggest, most watched esports event in 2021 in terms of the number of viewers was the League of Legends World Cup, which saw 74 million concurrent viewers.

Just to compare - the peak viewership for PGL Major CS: GO was around 2.74 million viewers, while Te International 2021 only had 2.7 million. League of Legends is loved in Asia much more than other main disciplines, which translates to almost a 30x the number of viewers.
