News January 2026

Operator News Baden-Baden expands

Casino Baden-Baden, located on the outskirts of the Black Forest in South West Germany, is launching a new slot machine gaming area, which is currently being built in the Kurhaus with around 70 new and state-of-the-art machines on an additional level. Te existing area in the basement will be connected to the ground floor barrier-free by an elegant staircase and an elevator, raising the slot machine game to a new level in terms of space and design. Completion of the conversion is planned for 2027.

Supplier News Interblock rolls out EGTs

Gate City Casino in Nashua has become the first casino in New Hampshire to offer automated electronic table games with the installation of two gaming offerings from Interblock. Te installation was the final step in a revamp of Gate City Casino’s gaming floor, following the opening of the first Aristocrat Lounge in New Hampshire in November and addition of more than 300 VLTs since September. A selection of the most popular historic horse racing gaming machines are still featured on a more spacious floor layout.

All options on the table for Evoke Operator News

Evoke has launched a strategic review of its operations following the added tax burden introduced in the recent UK Budget. Te review will assess a full range of options

across the Group - which includes William Hill, 888, and Mr Green - with possibilities ranging from selective asset sales to a complete sale of the business. Te company argues that the rise in Remote

Gaming Duty to 40 per cent will reshape the UK betting and gaming landscape, pushing more consumers toward unregulated markets. Evoke warned that higher duties will increase product costs, undermine safer-gambling

progress, and elevate black-market risks. Te Group estimates the new tax framework

will raise annual duty costs by £125–135m, with around £80m impacting FY26.

Operator News Betfred fined again

Betfred operator Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Limited will pay £825,000 after a Gambling Commission investigation uncovered significant AML and social responsibility breaches. Te firm also received a warning and must undergo an independent audit of its compliance controls. Its income-verification thresholds - £15,000 in losses or £125,000 in stakes over 12 months - were deemed inadequate. Tis marks Betfred’s second enforcement action, following a £3.25m penalty in 2023.

National rollout of quiniela postponed Legislation

Te president of the National Gaming Commission (Conajzar), Carlos Liseras, confirmed that the tender to operate operation of quiniela on a national level under the new law will be postponed due to the ongoing merger with the National Tax Revenue Directorate (DNIT). “In January of this year, the law was modified. One of

the main innovations of this new law is the de- monopolisation of the national lottery,” Liseras stated. Te head of Conajzar said that “three licences for the lottery will be tendered,” and due to administrative delays, “the current licence will necessarily have to be extended for a period.” “We are in the midst of the merger with the DNIT,

which is why we did not have the time to carry out the ongoing tender in a timely manner,” he explained. Liseras emphasised that the main mission of the

institution “is to regulate the exploitation of gambling and control clandestine operations. It is not about collecting revenue.” However, he highlighted the results achieved: “With all the controls we have implemented since assuming office, we are collecting US$9m more. “Now, with three individuals or legal entities developing

this activity, it will revolutionise the gaming environment; we believe it will generate slightly more revenue.”

Sante Fe opens iGaming tender Legislation

Te government of Argentina’s Province of Santa Fe has confirmed it will launch a national and international public tender to award online sports betting licences, marking a major step in implementing the region’s newly established regulatory framework. Te process was formalised through Decree

No. 3084/2025, signed by Governor Maximiliano Pullaro and the Minister of Government and Public Innovation, and published in the Official Gazette as part of a

26

package of twelve priority bills to be considered in extraordinary legislative sessions.

Among them is Message No. 44/25, which

seeks approval of the tender’s terms and conditions for licensing the operation, implementation, and exploitation of online sports betting. Te move follows the enactment of Law 14.235 in 2023, which granted legal status to online betting and appointed the Social Assistance Fund - Lottery of Santa Fe. Te body will define technical requirements, compliance rules, and monitoring mechanisms.
