Tropical Casino is a Puerto Rican casino brand. Tere are three other Tropical casinos located in the municipalities of Bayamón, Ponce and Mayagüez. Te new project was also welcomed warmly by Governor Pedro Pierluisi who said that the new hotel fitted in with the government’s plans to boost tourism.

Old San Juan (El Viejo San Juan) is home to significant landmarks like El Morro and Castillo San Cristobal, both recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Carlos Rodríguez, CEO of Driftwood Capital, the owning company told press that the casino will be located on the first level of the Paseo Portuario building, which the firm acquired in 2021 for $21.7m. SPORTS BETTING In 2019, Governor Ricard Rossello signed the bill that legalised sports betting in Puerto Rico but it took a while for it to get off the ground. Under the law sports betting, horse race betting, fantasy contests and betting on eSports will be allowed at casinos, at the island’s one racecourse and at off-track betting parlours and online.
