As for the future, ask ten different people and get ten different answers! I think inevitably there will be certain states that sweepstakes operators decide or are told not to operate in, however there’s a broader picture

emerging in other countries worldwide. Tere’s plenty of common law between countries, particularly English-speaking ones, who’s to say

that in a couple of years we’ve not seen sweepstakes operators take big chunks of different territories.

How do you think legislation will pan out in the foreseeable future? Is the genie out of the bottle? Will it be similar to the development of fantasy regulation?

Inevitably the size of the prize, and the investment that businesses have made – and continue to make - will mean that there are big companies willing to fight for their interpretations of the law. Daily Fantasy is an interesting comparison, although on a different footing from a legal perspective. Te key takeaway is that by the time those big players decided to pivot, they had such brand recognition that they were in a very strong position in the new market. With Sweepstakes operators joining forces in the SPGA, it allows them to be a united front and make their points together and coherently, I think this is a great thing for the industry and will mean that all sides of the debate can be heard.

LuckyStreak is responding to the demand of the sweepstakes market by providing operators and platforms with virtual currency support and sweepstakes-ready content. Could you flesh out what this offering consists of and how they work?

LuckyStreak launched support for virtual currencies – including sweepstakes and social casino coins – in Q4 2023. Te solution was defined, devised, developed and deployed within three months. We now support sweepstakes coins of all types, alongside FIAT and cryptocurrencies. Sweepstakes and social coins commonly differ

from other currencies in the form of their currency code: unlike traditional three-letter currencies, two- and four-letter ones are most prevalent. And in the case of sweepstakes casinos, players have two balances. LuckyStreak’s solution effectively supports the existence of two currencies in a player’s account enabling them to toggle between the two.

Another key requirement is in-game UIs; lots of operators have standardised changes they want, for example on the language used, and we have a ready solution for that. We also have easily customisable UI changes, so if an operator has a slightly different interpretation, we can accommodate that too. LuckyStreak has launched sweepstakes-compliant versions of its live games and now offer multiple aggregated providers that are also sweepstakes-ready, including Tom Horn, Red Rake, Fugaso and more.

However, because providers may work with different currency format (two- or four-letter or both), LuckyStreak acts as an “adapter” converting the currencies to the required formats of the operator customers. Tis allows us to put more providers on more operators and can avoid tech work for companies even when a direct integration may be available.

LuckyStreak’s own live games are undergoing a transformation to enable their studio-led proposition to serve the specific needs of the market. What adaptations are necessary to serve this market?

We’ve developed both the currency offering and the UI across our entire portfolio of live games. We can also offer bespoke and exclusive tables, which come with a set of specifically trained dealers who work in a specific area of the studio. Te adaptations took time, and to some extent are still being refined, but we’re happy to do it when we look at the opportunity. Not all Live providers have completed (or even started!) this yet. We’ve been talking about Sweepstakes for a long time and we’re starting to see that pay off.
