Flutter Acquires Tombola for £402m
ITALY – Greentube has boosted its presence in the Italian market with the acquisition of Capecod Solutions. The takeover of the Italian developer, which has been part of NOVOMATIC Italia since 2017, increases Greentube’s Italian game portfolio, and adds the first aggregator pole within its online offering.
With strong credentials in the Italian market, the acquisition of Capecod allows Greentube to enhance the NOVOMATIC Group’s omni-channel strategy. Capecod’s games development capabilities will be made available to NOVOMATIC Italia’s land-based clients in the AWP segment, becoming part of the NovoElsy AWP games portfolio. The deal also means that NOVOMATIC Italia’s conversions of popular AWP titles will be supplied to Capecod.
UK – Clarion Gaming has underlined its commitment to esports with the appointment of former Red Bull executive, Jamie Coles, to the newly created position of Esports Event Manager.
Jamie joins the Clarion Gaming team after spending three years working in the professional esports events sector at the ‘Red Bull Gaming Sphere.’
UK – Pronet Gaming has appointed Nedda Kaltcheva as its new Chief Technology Officer. Nedda brings with her a wealth of iGaming experience, having held the position of Director of
Engineering and CTO at William Hill International, Pokerstars and SimpleBet. She also has experience in a number of software development roles and co- founded the betting insights company Tipstly.
MALTA – EveryMatrix has welcomed Mark McMillan to its Board of Directors. The former William Hill US Chief Financial Officer will advise on EveryMatrix’s future development plans and help
steer the company towards success in the regulated US iGaming market. Mark McMillan brings aboard 20 years of experience in corporate finance and strategy.
CZECH REPUBLIC – Evoplay has agreed to partner with omni-channel platform provider, EASIT, a Czech software supplier that creates software solutions for its operator network.
The supplier is set to scale its delivery across multiple markets with its latest rollout. The deal will see Evoplay given access to several of EASIT’s operator partners in strategically placed, regulated markets such as Serbia, Bosnia and Montenegro.

Flutter Entertainment has announced the acquisition of Tombola, one of the UK market’s online bingo operators, for an enterprise value of £402m.
Paddy Power-owner Flutter Entertainment is to buy online bingo operator Tombola for more than £400m (€478m). Te terms will see Flutter pay £402m in cash upon completion, with approval needed in the UK from the Competition and Markets Authority. Te deal is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2022.
Te acquisition will see Flutter diversify its portfolio, adding a sustainable player base and enhancing its online gaming presence in its core UK market.
Te company brings a fully regulated revenue base, with more than 80 per cent coming from the UK and 16 per cent from Italy and Spain. It has around 400,000 average monthly players and more than 700 employees, with teams based in the UK and Gibraltar,
In the year ended April 2021, Tombolo generated pro forma revenue of £164 million and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of £38.5 million.
Scientific Games acquires Authentic Gaming

Scientific Games has acquired Authentic Gaming, marking the company’s first move into the live casino market and enhances the company’s product portfolio.
Based in Malta, Authentic Gaming is currently integrated with over 30 European operators, including brands Entain, 888, Betway Group, LeoVegas and Mr Green.
Scientific Games has ambitions to extend Authentic Gaming’s product offering across the US market. Tis includes creating new studios based in the US, enabling the company to offer a localised product for operators across the region.
“Tombola is a business we have long admired for its product expertise, highly recreational customer base and focus on sustainable play. Te brand aligns closely with Flutter’s safer gambling strategy, a key area of focus for us,” said Peter Jackson, Flutter chief executive.
“I am excited to combine Flutter’s digital marketing expertise with Tombola’s operational capabilities within the UK and Ireland division. As the time comes for Phil to hand over the reins, I would like to thank him for building the success story that the business is today, and I look forward to welcoming the Tombola team to Flutter and growing a sustainable business for the future together.”
Tombola’s founder Phil Cronin, who set up the firm 16 years ago, will leave the business after the acquisition, with he and his family expected to net a fortune.
Tombola was the first major UK-focused operator to introduce both mandatory staking and deposit limits.
