Playtech: managing the world's largest live casino studio
Playtech boasts the world’s largest next
generation Live Casino in Riga, Latvia. Built on top of the city’s fortified 16th century walls in the heart of Riga Old Town; the 8,500 square metre capacity studio dwarfs any existing live casino facility in the market today.
G3 sits down with Anna Gaponov, Global Live Unit Chief Operations Officer, and Girts Spridzans, Studio Manager, to find out how one manages a sprawling campus featuring hundreds of tables and gaming areas.
Could you begin by explaining the Playtech facility's origins?
Te Playtech Live Studio all started in 2008, albeit in a different building with a small studio of eight gaming tables. We went live in April 2009 with six Blackjack tables, one Roulette table and one Baccarat table, all operated by around forty employees. Over time we developed new dedicated studios and the operations grew rapidly resulting in a necessity for a new and modern facility.
Our new, and current, building was acquired in 2016 and by February 2017 we opened our first tables in time for the ICE 2017 exhibition, this was no easy feat as the full relocation and renovations took over one year to complete. Our new building gave us the ability to redesign our existing offering, create newly designed dedicated studios for our licensees, and provide localised and specialised table offerings including native-speaking hosts and innovative new network tables.
