New Head of Casinos Austria Named
Te internationally experienced casino manager, Erwin van Lambaart, has been appointed as the new General Director of Casinos Austria AG.
Van Lambaart is currently CEO of Holland Casino and will move into the Board of Management on March 14, 2022, and will take over the position of General Director.
AUSTRIA LAND-BASED
ESTONIA – Entain is pursuing a takeover of Olympic Entertainment Group, one of the Baltic region’s largest gambling companies. The indicative cash offer values OEG at US$1bn.
Entain’s proposal includes an upfront payment to acquire Olympic’s online business and operations in Lithuania and Croatia, as well as an additional earnout to be paid in early 2023 depending on performance.
Entain has turned hunter after itself being an acquisition target for the best part of 2021. US gambling firm, DraftKings, decided against making a firm offer to acquire Entain in late October, which was preceded by MGM Resorts International’s bid back in January, which also failed to come to fruition.
Entain has itself grown through acquisitions, including the takeover of Ladbrokes Coral Group agreed in 2017 and the purchase of
Bwin.party Digital Entertainment signed in 2015.
Entain has made its own bids and acquisitions this year. Entain acquired Swedish gaming company, Enlabs AB, to expand in the Baltics and also sought to acquire the wagering business of Australian firm Tabcorp Holding.
NETHERLANDS – Swintt has expanded its geographical reach into the Dutch market after striking a deal with Fair Play Casino. The new arrangement represents Swintt’s first steps into the Dutch igaming market with Netherlands players soon able to access games in their slot and premium slot collection online.
MALTA – Evoplay has announced a content integration partnership with the iGaming solutions provider, Upgaming. The deal sees a range of Evoplay titles go live on Upgaming’s online platform, including Minefield, Scratch Match and Football Manager. The deal will see Evoplay expand in key markets across Europe and Latin America.
Commenting on the deal, Vladimir Malakchi, Evoplay CCO, said: “We’re delighted to announce our partnership with Upgaming, a fantastic company that offers a range of services, which will certainly help us in our ambitious growth plans. We look forward to working with Upgaming and hope this launches a long and successful partnership.”

At an extraordinary Supervisory Board meeting today, Erwin van Lambaart, a casino manager with substantial international experience, was appointed as the new CEO of Casinos Austria AG. Van Lambaart, a Dutch national, is currently CEO of Holland Casino and will join the board on 14 March 2022, taking up the position of General Manager on 1 April 2022.
Te appointment of van Lambaart concludes a transparent candidate search which the Supervisory Board conducted in line with international standards in recent months, with the assistance of the renowned HR consultant Spencer Stuart. Glatz-Kremsner had announced in March 2021 that she would no longer be available for a contract extension as CEO.
Te Nominations Committee screened, reviewed and evaluated numerous national and international candidates based on strict criteria defined by the Games of Chance Act. A total of three applicants of outstanding quality were invited to interviews before the Nominations Committee. Greentube has gone live with Fair Play Casino in the Dutch market. Te go-live follows the successful integration to long- term partner Finnplay’s platform and marks Greentube’s second operator deal in the Netherlands, where the regulated market opened up on October 1, 2021.
