Adrian, MI — WACKER has introduced a new ver- sion of its ACEO® 3D printing technology with sil- icone rubber. The new ACEO Imagine Series K2 printer offers numerous technical improvements and software, allowing 3D objects to be reproduced even more precisely and with extremely high di- mensional accuracy.
It can print up to four different silicone mate- rials simultaneously, allowing objects to be printed in color and with silicones of different hardnesses. ACEO stands for WACKER’s 3D printing service that offers 3D printing with real silicone rubber for a variety of purposes and applications. Developers, prototyping specialists, scientists, and numerous customers from the aerospace, rail, automotive, and medical sectors can now take advantage of ACEO services.
With its multiple printing nozzles, the ACEO Imagine Series K2 can print hollow objects, which require support material. Multimate- rial printed objects are increasingly finding use in healthcare applica-

Susan Morehouse, CEO, Kodiak Assembly
Susan Morehouse received her BA from Chatham University and began working for the Museum of Scientific Discovery in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. What initially began as a fundraising job soon turned into a more integral part of the museum’s operations. Morehouse realized the museum’s ability to design and man- ufacture their own exhibits was a valuable asset, which she then mar- keted to other museums. As execu- tive director of the museum for five years, Susan showed an overall prof- it for each of those years. This expe- rience led her to move from the non- profit to the profit sector.

tions. For example, tumors or diseased blood ves- sels that have been scanned using imaging meth- ods can now be distinguished in color and copied extremely realistically in different hardnesses. Another highlight of the new generation of printers is its auto control technology. The printer measures the silicone layer applied after each printed layer and subsequently compares it with the target value specified in the CAD model. If the program detects any discrepancies, they are auto- matically corrected with the next layers. ACEO has also significantly improved the printing mechanism and control software. The new features allow mesh structures and other complex designs to be manufactured. They also facilitate the production of small series. One the three founding mem- bers of Kodiak Assembly Solutions, Susan is the current CEO and is heavily involved in planning, finance and HR. She finds balancing the needs of the employees, customers and vendors an enjoyable challenge each day. When asked about the fu- ture of women in electronics and tech, Susan says she hopes to mentor fledgling entrepreneurs, perhaps from a local university.
She also offers advice to young women who may be interested in the industry, “Read your local business journal and volunteer for area busi- ness group activities. This will give you a sense of whether this is a field you’ll enjoy as well as knowledge about the business. Plus, you’ll build a terrific network within the industry to help launch that new career.” r
