(a) How do you compare three or more things in English? Look at the image. Which plate is the biggest? Which plate has the most fish fingers? Write out your answers.
(b) Based on your answers, what words would a German student need to learn to help him or her to compare three or more things in English?
(c) As you discovered in chapter 6, to compare two things in German you add ‘-er’ to the adjective.
(d) But how would you say: the nicest or the shortest? (This is called the superlative). Study the following examples.
schön – schöner – am schönsten (nice – nicer - the nicest) kurz – kürzer – am kürzesten (short – shorter – the shortest)

(e) What is the rule for forming the superlative 'am schönsten' in German?
You put _________ in front and add _______ at the end. If the adjective ends in ‚-d, -t, -s‚ sch‘ or z‘ (e.g. kurz) , you have to add ___________ at the end.
If the adjective ends in -ß, just add -ten. Beispiel: am größten.
