(a) When Judith’s parents talk about events in the past they use the 'Perfekt' and 'Imperfekt' tenses. Write the table below into your copybook and fill in the verb forms from the text.

The most frequent examples of the 'Imperfekt' tense used are: ‘war’(was), ‘hatte‘ (had), ‘es gab‘ (there was/ there were) modal verbs, for example ‘konnte‘ (could) plus infinitive ‘konnte fahren‘ (could travel). Otherwise, the 'Perfekt' tense is used. It is formed with the verb ‘haben' for most verbs and with ‘sein’ for verbs of movement + past participle.
