Dunster A gateway to Exmoor and one of the most visited villages in Somerset, with a good selection of restaurants, tearooms, pubs and hotels and over 200 historical buildings, including the 11th century Dunster Castle and the Old Yarn Market. Dunster has events in and around the village throughout the summer and autumn. Te Exmoor Visitor Centre, situated at the entrance to the village, has the dates for all events and information on Exmoor.

Allerford
Tis village has the much photographed Packhorse Bridge and Allerford House, welcoming visitors.
Winsford Southern Exmoor’s prettiest village, the green and its eight bridges span both the River Exe and the Winn Brook. Te packhorse bridge is the starting point for moorland walks taking in the local flora and fauna. At nearby Winsford Hill, a herd of Exmoor ponies roam freely near bronze age burial sites and the standing ‘Caractacus’ stone. Te huge Punchbowl is the southernmost geological formation from the last ice age, and the ancient clapper bridge at Tarr Steps on the Barle River is another rarity.
Withypool
Overlooks the Barle Valley and the heathland of Withypool Common. To the south is Withypool Hill (1306 feet) with superb views from the summit, on its south side is a Bronze Age stone circle.

Simonsbath Part of the former Royal Forest of Exmoor. It is a popular starting point for walks along the River Barle, the meadow is a good place for picnics. Te Sawmill can be visited on certain days during the summer and the Exmoor Forest Inn is highly acclaimed.
