birds can be spotted. Coastal paths lead to places of interest including the town of Rock, Daymer Bay, Port Isaac and the Rumps in the Iron-Age cliff castle with ramparts. Between Polzeath and St Enodoc is a wheelchair friendly path. To the east are fantastic coves, wildlife, rugged cliffs, sea views and land stretching for miles.


Padstow


Padstow Tis town is now a premier destination, the harbour being the main attraction. Children fish for crabs from the harbour wall, and quayside inns and cafes overlook the calm water. Tere are boats and pleasure craft to hire and a ferry to Rock. Padstow is a gourmet’s delight, with eateries including Michelin starred restaurants. Up to 30,000 people flock here for the Padstow’s Obby-Oss (Hobby Horse) Festival, the biggest day in Padstow’s calendar.


Most of the beaches are within walking distance, and a short drive along the coast reveals some of the finest stretches of sand in Cornwall. Padstow, with its wonderful views, is ideal for holiday activities any time of the year. Te nearby Camel Trail is eleven miles of traffic free, wheelchair friendly, converted rail track running alongside the River Camel.


Rock Across the Camel Estuary, this small, unique town can be accessed via windy roads or by the Padstow ferries and there are many golf courses in the area that welcome non- members. Te Jamie Oliver and Michelin star restaurants, high-end accommodation, art galleries, boutiques and the like, reflect the ambience of the town.

via the Tristram car park, and Braey Hill, with views of Hawkers Dove, Doom Bar and Stepper Point. Tere are boat trips, an abundance of water-sports and fishing. At low tide it is possible to walk to Rock and take the ferry to Padstow.


Polzeath


Tis is a world renowned surfing beach, suitable for families (though care is advised with young children due to large waves and rip currents). Te beach is home to the Voluntary Marine Wildlife Reserve where dolphins and coastal

Port Isaac (TV’s ‘Port Wenn’) From the Harbour there is fishing, and scenic trips are available. Te sea shanty singers, ‘Te Fishermen’s Friends’, perform on the quay during the summer. In the village there are steep narrow lanes leading to the harbour, with nooks and crannies such as ‘Squeezie Belly Alley’ and ‘Te Bloody Bones Cellar’, used for storing contraband, with a tunnel to the beach. Tere are several shingle and sandy beaches nearby.


Port Gaverne Te safest sheltered sandy family beach with rock pools in north Cornwall.


Port Quin An interesting walk from Port Isaac to Port Quin is accessed from the harbour, and the route to Pine Haven has outstanding views. Te Long Cross Victorian Gardens has a maze, small lake, dovecote, children’s play area and pets’ corner. Tis is largely a National Trust area.

Classical musical festivals are held in the parish church here at Easter and in midsummer.
