Spectacular open vistas are a Dartmoor specialty and there is much to do, such as going for a gentle stroll away from civilisation, an exhilarating mountain bike ride or visit a Castle. Dartmoor is also the only open space in Devon where wild camping is permitted! Two very important things to note:

MEADOW SWEET COTTAGE sits amongst fields and farmland with paths and cycle routes such as the Tarka Trail and Abbeyford Woods. This is an ideal location to explore the coastline from Hartland to Clovelly to the resorts of Instow, Saunton, Woolacombe, Lynton & Lynmouth to the Exmoor National Park. Should you wish to stay in Cornwall there are also cottages on their farm near Launceston.
Te Okehampton, Merrivale and Willsworthy areas - used for military live firing! If you see a red flag flying by day, or red lamps at night, do not enter these areas.

Across Dartmoor and the surrounding area are 45 food pubs, some with accommodation and children’s facilities. Many local holiday parks, caravan, camping and tipi-yurts sites offer amenities, swimming pools, and entertainment. Most of the larger holiday parks welcome non- residents to use the facilities and enjoy the entertainment.
Te following pages are a brief potted guide to what there is to see, do and visit on Dartmoor, but the only way to really appreciate this magnificent landscape is to visit and explore it.
