Teaign Estuary
Shaldon Opposite Teignmouth, the village is known for its beach activities, a popular Regatta, yacht racing, other watersports and its annual Water Carnival. Ness beach is accessed via ‘smugglers tunnel’. Tere is a small Zoo and, on Wednesdays from May to September, there is a variety of stalls, crafts and entertainment, with the sellers dressed in period costume. When in Shaldon, or the Teignbridge area, make a special point of visiting the Shaldon Zoo operated by the Shaldon Wildlife Trust.
Cridford The Inn
Newton Abbot Te market town is only three miles from the Devon Express Way (A38), the railway station is on the main line and there are good coach and bus links to the surrounding towns and villages. Tough not a seaside resort, there are a number of parks, some with sport facilities, fauna and flora, lakes, woods and walks. Other attractions include the Hedgehog Hospital at Prickly Ball Farm, the House of Marbles, Tucker’s Maltings, the only traditional malt-house in the country, and the Great Western Railway Museum. Tere are golf courses at Stover, Dainton and Hele.

Tere is a wide choice of local and out of town amenities. Te racecourse has National Hunt meetings and is the venue for the two day Lemonfest in June, the Sounds of the Summer music festival, and a two day Antique Fair in the autumn. Kingsteignton Towards Torquay, this large village is known for its annual Ram Roasting Fair, an ancient custom where the participants have a great time dancing and eating. Tere are also various food pubs in the area.
Bishopsteignton A typical village, with pretty pastel coloured houses and a family-run village shop.
Chudleigh Our last town is located at the end of the Teign Valley close to the Haldon Hills. Tis historic market town has numerous narrow lanes, passageways between quaint old cottages and many local footpaths. Chudleigh is a perfect base to explore from, and the entire area is a walker’s paradise including the route from Haytor on Dartmoor and along the Teign Estuary. Tere is rock climbing on
